My Grandma, a full-blood Cherokee, was a spiritual woman and a midwife. She delivered, at last count, 225 children, including a Supreme Court Justice. There have been numerous articles and stories written about her and the stories she told her children and grandchildren about Sequoyah (her great-grandfather twice removed) as well as the story of the White Butterfly. A very enjoyable and proud moment in my life was going to a Museum in Cherokee, NC, and finding a story about Sequoyah and my Grandma. I hope this painting expresses the full amount of my love for this beautiful woman who earned every line in her hands and face.
She is still deeply loved and missed."
